The Lord of life lies lifeless in the cold darkness of a borrowed tomb, while two High-Bourne angels crouch over His body. With swords drawn, they bow low, extending their wings over Him—the ember flame of their eyes the only light to chase the shadows from their Sovereign’s face. Their King has left this world for the realm of death to make war with its king—a place where even angels dare not tread. This is the battle of Life and death, and only one will walk away with dominion.

Two days…. Two days of watching His lifeless body. Not a heartbeat. Not even a holy twitch. But morning is coming. The angels know the prophecies, so they hold their positions. But make no mistake, this is the greatest exercise of patience heaven has ever faced. One, if not both, are itching for a fight, but neither move. They can barely bring themselves to breathe for the anticipation. Then, just before the darkness can celebrate another night of triumph, a fiery dawn touches the stone leaning against the tomb and Christ inhales His first resurrection breath. The angels fall to the floor,  speechless. The stones tremble beneath His body as a smile breaks across the face of Love. Gone are the lines of grief in his forehead. Gone are the pangs of death in His body, and found are His children—forever! Somebody had better say something or the stones themselves will cry out on behalf of the Lord of glory! The brightness of a thousand suns fills the tomb with the brightness of the only begotten Son. The Life Bringer sits up! And that is all His angels need. The High-Bourne of heaven launch into the air, eyes ablaze, with glory shouts!

“HE HAS RISEN!”
“HE HAS RISEN!”

The halls of heaven roar as the stone of Christ’s tomb is rolled away, and with it, rolled away are the sins of every tribe of every nation and every tongue blessed to call him Savior! That is Easter, my friends! The Life King has won! The Death king is defeated forever! And do you know what? There is still glory to be given! The dawn of Sunday is coming. Raise your voice today for the Lord of Glory. The rocks are trembling….
