Welcome to Max Patch
Max Patch represents more than one thing. It is the long overdue music of two brothers that for some reason waited 30 years to make happen. It is also an actual place where we were raised. You see, we hail from the great Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. We were not raised in the country, but in the mountains. There’s a difference, you know. I still remember those days too–good days, slower days. Somehow, time on those mountains seems to slow everything down to a nice easy crawl–still does. Nobody’s in a hurry, and everyone is loved. It’s a special place. It’s home…
Our family has always been music lovers, since I can remember. When I was a kid, my uncle Roy and a ton of cousins would pile into my granny’s house every now and then for some pickin. One would bring an acoustic guitar, another a banjo, another a harmonica and sometimes, even spoons would be mixed into the ensemble. I remember them singing into the night, with an accent almost forgotten by time. It was simple, and beautiful, just like the life they lived in those mountains. They were not wealthy, far from it. But what they lacked in money, they more than made up for in joy. They knew their God, and they were content with what He had given them.
And that’s it, I suppose… that is Max Patch. A simple place for two brothers, where everything good and wholesome comes at you uncomplicated, in a nice easy stroll. That is our family. A people who lived where the mountains touch the sky, in a place where most would swear no one but God himself would live or hear. But we heard…
If you were raised like this, then you’re blessed. If you were not, I hope you hear in these songs what I remember about those mountains. I hope you find in them a smile that cannot be found with money, and are reminded of a joy that can only be measured out in the breadth and width of a Savior’s love.

Glory In The Ordinary
This song was born from a sermon title I heard over ten years ago. I don’t remember much of the sermon now, but the premise still gets me to this day. The fact that Jesus walked this planet for 30 years before he ever accomplished a single miracle is puzzling. That...
